I'm only going to Heaven, if it tastes like caramel: Hot Chip hit Heaven 13/06/12

FINISHING their short tour of the UK Hot Chip proved their new material was anything other than conservative playing to a sold out Heaven (London, Charing Cross) on Wednesday. 

A showcase of tracks from the new album released on Domino records In Our Heads kept the audience moving effortlessly as they hammered home their synth enthused pop. Opening with Motion Sickness from their latest album the show flowed without pause sending the audience into an energetic trance. 

The lead single from the fifth album Night and Day lead the notoriously reserved singer Alexis Taylor to leave his keyboard and take centre stage delivering his comical rap "We're not in Ayia Napa, Do I look like a rapper?"

Old favourites Over and Over and Boy From School were let out the box pretty early on, saving a re worked live version of the hit Ready For The Floor for the inevitable encore. This flowed neatly into Fleetwood Mac's Everywhere, Hot Chip style placing the ultimate icing on the cake.

If there were any cynics amongst the audience Hot Chip certainly put them in their place, displaying what can only be described as a TK Maxx style jumble sale of talented musicians swapping instruments like Pokemon cards. Electronic music should take a leaf from Hot Chip's book. This faultless performance proved that you can bring studio created sounds to life live effectively. 

Amidst the smoke filled stage following their final tune Let Me Be Him a voice stated it was good to be back in London. With a performance that seemed to signify a one finger salute to critics branding them with a studious reputation, I for one certainly hope you're back soon.
